Terms and Conditions
1. General
By purchasing goods or services from Diamonds on Baylis, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These Terms apply to all in-store and online transactions, workshop jobs, repairs, custom manufacturing and layby arrangements.
2. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to:
A replacement or refund for a major failure; and
Compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
3. Warranty
All items are inspected by a qualified jeweller and store manager prior to delivery.
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of delivery on items we manufacture, repair or sell, unless otherwise stated.
What is Covered
This warranty covers defects in workmanship, including:
Stones becoming loose or falling out (subject to setting conditions below)
Structural failure in the specific area we manufactured or repaired
What is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover:
Normal wear and tear
Accidental damage or impact damage
Misuse or mistreatment
Loss or theft
Glued items
Enameling
Gold or rhodium plating wear
Pre-existing damage
Damage caused by third-party jewellers
We do not guarantee that products will meet subjective expectations beyond their described specifications.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the item or the cost of repair or replacement.
4. Stone Setting Conditions & Exclusions
We guarantee claw-set stones only where the setting meets minimum structural requirements.
We do not cover loss of:
Any claw-set stone with three or fewer claws
Any stone over 0.50 carat set in fewer than six claws
Emerald cut stones set in fewer than four claws
Oval or marquise stones set in fewer than six claws
Pear or heart shapes set in fewer than five claws
Trillion stones without V-claws
Warranty does not apply where:
Claws are thin, uneven, worn, missing or improperly proportioned
Stones are set crooked
Beads in bead settings are worn or missing
Channels are thin, torn, unsupported or pulling away
Bezels are thin, torn or not fully securing the stone
5. Gemstones & Diamonds
No gemstone, including diamonds, can be guaranteed against chipping, cracking, scratching or fracturing.
We strongly recommend insuring your jewellery under your home and contents policy.
Setting or resetting stones carries inherent risk. We are not responsible for further damage to stones that are:
Chipped
Fractured
Heavily included
Structurally compromised
Customers will be informed of visible risks prior to work commencing.
6. Custom-Made & Workshop Jobs
Custom and hand-fabricated items are made to order.
A minimum 20% deposit is required for workshop jobs valued at $500 or more. For larger custom projects, a higher deposit may be required.
Deposits are non-refundable once work has commenced or materials have been ordered.
Final design approval (including CAD renders or sketches) constitutes acceptance of design details. Minor variations may occur due to the nature of hand fabrication.
Precious metal and gemstone prices fluctuate. Quotes are valid for 28 days unless otherwise stated.
Balances must be paid in full prior to collection or shipping.
7. Resizing
Rings purchased from Diamonds on Baylis include one complimentary resize.
If the first resize is incorrect due to size estimation, one additional complimentary resize is available.
Free resizing does not apply:
If the ring has already been resized upward more than twice
If resizing is required due to body size fluctuations
If structural integrity would be compromised
Ring sizing is guaranteed for 30 days from delivery, as finger size can fluctuate due to weather, diet, medication and weight changes.
For online sales, postage costs for resizing are the customer’s responsibility. The resizing labour cost is covered where applicable.
8. Returns & Exchanges
Change of Mind
We do not offer refunds for change of mind.
We may offer exchange or store credit at our discretion, provided the item is returned in original condition.
Personalized, engraved or custom-made items are not eligible for return unless required under Australian Consumer Law.
Faulty Items
If you believe an item is faulty, please contact us promptly.
Proof of purchase is recommended but not essential where purchase can otherwise be verified.
9. Layby
Layby is available for general purchases, engagement rings and wedding rings.
Standard layby terms are up to 6 months
Extended layby terms may be approved at management discretion.
Failure to complete layby payments may result in cancellation and forfeiture of deposit at our discretion.
10. Payment
Payment is required upon collection or prior to shipping.
Accepted payment methods:
EFTPOS
Cash
Online banking
For bank transfers, proof of payment must be received before goods are released.
11. Availability
Some items may be:
Out of stock
Made to order
Hand fabricated
Subject to gemstone or diamond approval periods
Approval stones are typically held for up to two weeks.
Estimated completion timeframes are indicative only and may vary.
12. Online Orders & Shipping
Risk in goods passes to the customer upon dispatch.
Postage costs for returns or resizing are the customer’s responsibility unless the return relates to a major failure under Australian Consumer Law.
We strongly recommend insured shipping where available.

Diamonds on Baylis respects your privacy and safeguards personal information.
